100 Second Film Fe...

some seeding has started
Adam, DJ - how are the downloads coming. My connection is flky but the files are small. Some of the files have been compressed a few times over. However, thy are idea for dragging right into iMovie. From there you can bring them into Final Cut. Insert a '100 jpeg' between and voila - insta fest.

Cumbria UK Outpost beginnings
I have a venue and the start of some community groups who are interested in participating. I shall update on our progress from time to time.

looking for outposts
We are looking for 100 Second outposts for the 2007 festival. What is an outpost? A person who wants to build a festival and a place for it to be shown. It is easy, fun and free. We can even supply promotional materials for this unique collaboration. All inquiries welcome.

My take
Instead of having people send you tapes or URL's that you got to digitaize/download....you could have peole upkoad directly to your computer. Just give them the instructions for how to compress properly.
As we discussed, you can also use Spin to make a group like youve done..and let curators from arond the world built shows...or add more to the group.
Also, if you want to make a feed from multiple sources, check out dabble.com. You can go around and label each video you want in the feed....no matter where it lies on the web.

just a start
The video files that are now available are from the 2005 festival. I have about an equal amount from the 2006 festival. In discussing the use of Spin Xpress - it seems to me that the idea that we put out this big call for entries and gather the submissions is one distinct part of the festival creation process. Then making all these files available on Spin is another distinct element. The building a festival and putting ascreening together is part three. However, generating a master RSS feed for Democracy which could be an amalgamation of Blip and Delicious feeds would need to occur separatley than the work done in Spin (I think?). I will update the wiki to reflect a more detailed process. However, for now, just spread the word.
