In university at the moment studying Digital Video Design (3 year course). Just came off a two year National Diploma in Art and Design course.
Currently enrolled at Ex'pression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, CA. Current focus is sound effects for movies and video games.
Wreck & Salvage is a joint effort among 4 other independent video producers and myself. We produce a bi-weekly video podcast featuring original comedy and entertainment videos and animations.
I developed the web site wreckandsalvage.com using Wordpress, PHP, XHTML/CSS, and some Javascript. I hacked Wordpress to generate different RSS 2.0 compliant feeds for each of our 3 media formats.
On the video side, I produce the series Ornamental Concrete that airs on Wreck & Salvage every other Thursday using a mix of live action and stop-motion animation, with homemade sets, scripts, and 3-point lighting setup.
I grab frames for animation in StopMotion Pro, edit in Adobe Premiere, capture audio in Sony Sound Forge, and occasionally add extra stuff in After Effects.

An accomplished guitarist and vocalist, Vernon Black spent most of the past 20 years touring, recording and film tracking with music legends like Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Chakka Kahn and Lionel Richie. More recently, he’s performed and recorded with contemporary artists including Ashanti, Mariah Carey, India Aire, Busta Rhymes and Celine Dion. His work can be heard in films like “The Bodyguard,” “License to Kill,” and “Beverly Hills Cop II;” in advertising jingles for Jaguar, Chevrolet, Toyota, Nissan, Mattel and Levi’s; and in songs and sound effects on video games for Sony Play Station, Nintendo, Sega and EA Sports (Electronic Arts). And at the Jimi Hendrix Festival at Bumbershoot Stadium in Seattle Washington he was the co-music director and opened the show with the legendary "Experience" (Jimi Hendrix’s original band) - Mitch Mitchell (drums) and Noel Redding (bass).
Vernon is also a producer, composer and music director. Credits include; The Spice Girls (music director), Regina Belle (composer), Phillip Bailey (composer), Lenny Williams (composer, producer) and his 1st solo record “Sneak Previews” (composer, producer) {guest artists including Herbie Hancock, Steve Smith, Tom Coster, Phillip Bailey} and for multiple artists on his “Ice Black Productions” production company / independent record label.
Also an innovator of musical instrument design, Vernon designs his own electric guitars. He is the co-designer of the MP2 digital guitar preamp, which won the award for best guitar processor of 1993. He also received an award from the DVD Association for co-designing the DVD on CD (multi layered enhanced cd) in 2000.
In the year 2004, Vernon took a break from the "guitarist for hire" market to create a situation that would allow him to pursue and develop his own producing and writing career as well as being a solo artist. Equally so, he was motivated to create a place that gave artists a more fair and friendly (artist based business) environment. This led to the creation of his production company / independent record label "Ice Black Productions".

Utilizing our 'simple' series Blue Hue Changer moving background we've generated this nice animated curtain moving background. An example of just one of the many ways you can use our simple series moving backgrounds to produce spectacular effects! http://www.dvdmenubacks.com
In this fantastic moving background we've taken our 'simple' Flashy Fire Gradient moving background and added a dash of Kodak film grain, ambient lighting effects, a little blur and a few other soft touches to produce an animation that stands well apart from it's base. An exhilarating look at how small changes to simple moving backgrounds can produce sharp animations all their own! http://www.dvdmenubacks.com
In another of our 'simple' series of moving backgrounds we present a gradient green hued background that changes from light green to periods of darkness and back again. See our Green Hue Curtain moving background animation for an example of using effects with this animation. Also available in red and blue. :) http://www.dvdmenubacks.com
In yet another of our 'simple' series of moving backgrounds we present a gradient blue hued background that changes from light blue to periods of darkness and back again. See our Blue Hue Curtain moving background animation for an example of how some simple special effects combined with this simple moving background can produce astonishing results! http://www.dvdmenubacks.com
Working off of our Simple Pastel Changer moving background, we stepped up the color shifting a notch and applied a different timing algorithm to the mix to produce a slightly more exotic blend of pastels than before. This is a great base animation for the application of your own special effects and text. http://www.dvdmenubacks.com
