Chris Ritke doesn't usually tell anybody, but he has a Masters in Physics that he got way back when in Germany. It didn't make him a physicist - it just helped him train his brain to think a little. He spent many years working on and with project management software, ending with the sale of WebProject Inc, one of the first online project collaboration solutions. These days he's involved with different things like 49Media, SpinXpress, Towerpod, and 49Sparks
I am a videoblogger. I am also into collaborating where groups of people make media better than anyone one person could do alone. When I worked in television, everyone had a talent: shooting, editing, producing, music, titles/design. Now we can use a tool like SpinXpress to build a process to make regular content each week. See http://swajana.com.
I ride my bike...a lot - surf when the waves are right, and I board when there's snow (and I can afford it). My background is in music (concert promotions, marketing and artist management). These days I've been working in a lot of New Media. Check out some of my podcasts below or better yet - visit www.towerpod.com . I LOVE meeting and networking with new people. Check out my various thumbprints on the web by checking out the links to the left. Write me anytime...

My name is Nick Schmidt. I swam at Eastern Illinois University where I earned an accounting & MBA degree. After graduation in 2005, I did the normal thing and moved into an accounting job. I am an accountant by day and a video blogger (vlogger) by night. As you can see I am not your average accountant. A vlogger is just like a blogger. However, instead of writing blogs I produce, edit, and even make music for my videos. I use my videos to express my creativity and life passions. I have been recognized by MTV and VH1 after my article in the Wall Street Journal. I was featured in the Wall Street Journal (10/3/06 section D1 "Virtual Reality TV") after placing 2ndAmerica's Dream Date" competition by Gofish.com. Placing 2nd allowed me to win a trip to Las Vegas, where I attended the Billboard Music Awards. I covered video footage backstage with the creator of Techiediva.com, Gina Hughes. I have been an editor for Techiediva since April 2006. Techiediva.com was selected by PC Magazine as one of the top 100 websites in 2006. All of my experiences have provided me the ability to be involved in various technological projects. I have spoken at the downtown Chicago Apple Store a number of and I am currently teaching video blogging at the local Apple Store on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus. I have also spoken at the three day panel of the Art Institute of Chicago campus for the Motion Graphics Festival. Due to the increasing usage of video in consumer product marketing, I had the opportunity to be a guest for the Chicago Interactive Marketing Association’s (CIMA) "User Generated Content" panel, which also included the V.P. of Edelmen, V.P. of Myspace.com, and the CEO of Blogger and Feedburner. My most recent project consultation is for ProjectElliott.com where I am assisting in the in the " development of videos for the company’s new social network of job search.

In the GRAMMY U Multi-Media Contest, each contestant will upload media content to an open source site (SpinXpress), and then select from this site various audio and visual clips to compile, edit and mix into their own 3-minute film for evaluation. The winner will deliver the best 3-minute audio-visual montage project addressing one of two themes: music education or philanthropy. All footage in the final project will be provided in the open source database of SpinXpress. Audio students should upload audio tracks and video students should upload video/animation tracks for their entry; the copyright of all clips should be owned by the student uploading them, and all content used in the contest will be only used for the duration of the contest. Contestants can collaborate with other contestants in the composition of their final project (See official rules for details). Five finalists will be selected by a panel of industry experts in early June 2007, after the contest has closed. All final entries will then be viewed at an industry GRAMMY U event (date TBD), with another panel of judges providing live feedback and deciding on the final winner, who will take home the Grand Prize.

Bill Moyers: "Big Media is Ravenous. It Never Gets Enough. Always Wants More. And it Will Stop at Nothing to Get It. These Conglomerates are an Empire, and they are Imperial." The veteran broadcast journalist Bill Moyers spoke on Friday before 3,500 at the opening of the National Conference on Media Reform in Memphis. He announced his return to the airwaves and outlined his vision of media reform. "As ownership gets more and more concentrated, fewer and fewer independent sources of information have survived in the marketplace; and those few significant alternatives that do survive, such as PBS and NPR, are under growing financial and political pressure to reduce critical news content and to shift their focus in a mainstream direction, which means being more attentive to establishment views than to the bleak realities of powerlessness that shape the lives of ordinary people."
